The tourism industry is one of the hardest hit by the spread of COVID-19. With all travel coming to a halt overnight, and trips to Africa immediately put on hold, those working in one of Africa’s biggest business sectors have been left with a lot of uncertainty about their futures.

Kambaku River Lodge is not exempt from the immense impact that having no tourism has created and while we know that things will get better in time, we are well aware of the fact that there are many companies that face closure, even if it is only temporary.

But we are optimistic, and while the travel ban is set to be around for quite a while, we like to see opportunity in this time of crisis.

When was the last time you sat down and fully planned out your holiday? From the initial research right down to the bookings?

We’ve all become so used to pre-packaged trips that many of us don’t really realise that there is so much else going on out there in the world. Often, this means we miss out on some truly spectacular destinations, lodges, and attractions.

And right now, if you are sitting at home wondering what to do, you can use this time to research and plan your next holiday, even if you can’t make your booking just yet.

How to plan your post lockdown holiday

  1. Research online

Could you imagine being in a lockdown without access to the World Wide Web? So many of us have turned to the web in an effort to stay sane and informed during lockdown, but did you consider using the web to plan your holiday by doing some research about the many interesting places you could visit?

There is so much information and millions of travel sites available online for you to browse through, giving you many opportunities to plan an unforgettable trip. Make sure that you look through the various accommodation options as well as activities on offer, don’t just get drawn in by the beautiful pictures.

  1. Thoughtful travel

Looking back, many travellers will probably have one or two holidays that were not properly thought out and as a result, didn’t meet expectations.

When you plan a post-lockdown trip, make sure that you take a little extra time to be more thoughtful about your holiday. Are you going somewhere you really want to go or are you simply choosing a destination based on its ongoing popularity?

  1. Take control

It is absolutely daunting to take on all of the logistics planning for your holiday, but if you change your mind set, you can see that daunting can also be empowering. We all know the benefits of working with a travel agent, but if you are looking to save money and visit places that are not on their travel packages, you can take on the logistics yourself.

In the coming months, when travel booms once more, South Africa is going to be the place to visit. And a trip to the Kruger must be on your post-COVID bucket list. If you are looking for a luxury stay, as a treat for getting through the tough times, Kambaku River Lodge is the ultimate destination. Keep us in mind when you are planning your next holiday.
