“Why Do Internationals Pay More in Kruger Park?”
A frequently asked question; answered.
The Kruger Park dehorns rhinos in order to protect them. This is a costly and arduous exercise.
No human being likes to feel taken advantage of or “ripped-off.”
Perhaps all we need to do is adopt a mindset change as to why the Kruger Park has different rates. (SANParks as a whole has different rates for locals, Southern-Africans and international guests.)
But, why do foreigners have to pay more in Kruger Park?
One immediately tends to assume that at any given moment a tourist or foreigner (anywhere in the world for that matter) will be charged more. Kambaku River Lodge cannot speak for the whole world, but can offer an answer in place of a previously poorly-communicated reason.

Foreigners don’t pay more, but locals just pay less. Maintaining and conserving The Kruger National Park is no easy or cheap feat.
Another consideration is that currencies are not of equal strength. South Africans would not be able to afford entry into the Kruger Park at the full rates (‘international’ rates.)
Kambaku River Lodge encourages you to please see your rates as an investment into employing between 7,000 - 10,000 people. (This is through direct, contractual and spin-off employment created by Kruger Park.)1 2
In surmise, The Kruger Park and SANParks (which depends on Kruger Park revenue) would not operate without these fees, thousands would be jobless and 2,000,000 hectares of fencing would not exist to keep our beloved wildlife safe and in their natural habitat.
